Simple Syrup

I keep seeing these drinks using simple syrup, and I have to admit something kinda silly. I didn’t realize you could make simple syrup, despite the fact that it’s called SIMPLE syrup.

So, I did some searching in my books and found a recipe. This’ll keep in the fridge indefinitely, so make as much as you want, depending on how often you make cocktails with simple syrup.

Ingredients:
  • 2 parts sugar
  • 1 part water
Preparation:
  1. Bring the water to a boil.
  2. Dissolve the sugar into the boiling water.
  3. Once the sugar is dissolved completely, remove the pan from the heat.
  4. Allow to cool completely and bottle

See? Sorta kinda simple. Now, please tell me I wasn’t the only goof who didn’t make the connection that simple syrup wasn’t something you had to go buy. Even if just one person tells me this was actually helpful, then I’ll feel better.

C, I did eventually figure it out, but for ages I thought the same thing you did. :) No worries!

I’ll admit it. About 2 weeks ago I found a recipe that called for simple syrup and I was out. I googled it and felt really stupid when I realized how simple it is to make.
