Site Review: Imeem

Site: Imeem.com

Users: ??? No Data Provided

Features:

Imeem is another site that promises to be a content management site where you can deploy all your different types of content to other websites. It is basically trying to combine Flickr, Youtube, Blogger, and other social networking sites into one setup. You can create playlists of videos, music, and photos from your own content or content that has been created within the community.

I honestly have to say that their setup was extremely easy to navigate, while there is nothing that sets it apart from some of the newer sites that have sprung up except for the navigation, which was really intuitive.

Review:

While much like the other new social networking sites that I have and will review this month I don’t think this is a key place to invest your time or effort for marketing yourself or your business.

I would place this on the upper part of the third tier of social networks, I like the layout, concept, and usability. If you were looking for a place to house all of your diverse content, this wouldn’t be a bad place to do it. However for our purposes here I really can’t recommend it.

IMEEM might represent good value for small businesses on an adavertising budget because their site supports hi-definition video uploads in Advanced Video Codec High Definition, or AVCHD format (H.264 comppression)…which is supported in Apple Quicktime. Sony, Canon, Panasonic and JVC all have consumer AVCHD camcorders with Dolby 5.1 surround sound recording capability, which means for under a grand you can shoot true high def video. Look at some of the video adds on IMEEM and they totally blow YouTube’s junk away.

My .02…if you can find the right target market on this site it’s got to be considered for advertising dollars because IMEEM is growing pretty quickly. Unless the company goes under for a lack of venture capital what’s not to like here?

I like the privacy options that Imeem features. You can choose the option of not having friend requests (BIG problem on You Tube with trolls and haters sending you hate messsage via friends requests) Have messages sent to FRIENDS ONLY or turn them off altogether. The videos look nice although you are only limited to 5000 of everything you upload…
