Slacker baby on the way!
The Slacker Spouse and I have been in the process of adopting a second child from South Korea. In January of this year, we found out we’ve got another son (in fairness, here’s son #1). That began the most difficult part of the adoption process: waiting to travel when you know your child is out there somewhere.
Well, today we received word that we’re cleared to travel! We’ll be heading out Sunday night and we’ll spend about a week in Korea before bringing Myung Hee home. I think we’ve decided on an American name for Myung Hee: Asher. Asher Myung Hee. (heavily influenced by Chaim Potok)
All this to say that posting will be light (if any) around here next week. I’ve got lots of blog fodder in the hopper though, so we’ll pick right up where we left off. Here’s a little preview (yeah, I got a lotta reading planned for paternity leave):
- Book review: iCon
- A bit of
nazel gaving, uh, navel gazing on job satisfaction and the benefits of mindfulness - Book review: What Is Your Life’s Work?
- Book review: The Lazy Way To Success
- Book review: The Virtual Handshake
- Book review: Danger: Quicksand—Have A Nice Day!
- And whatever else comes to mind as I’m doing midnight feedings…

That is such great news! I think it was the good luck charm of the Seoul T-Shirt. Congratulations!
Congrats, man! Nothing like kids to make the house feel alive. I’ve got two that you can borrow for a while if you’d like! :)
Fantastic Bren!
My family is very excited for you and I also have 3 that would love to meet the new addition.
Congrats!

Bren,
I remember the wait…I remember the feedings…I remember the joy. You’ve already done it once, and now you are doing it again! Hope to hear your further adventures picking up and taking care of Asher.
Congrats to you and your family!
Bren – that totally rocks! Congratulations. Have a good trip and bring a ton of love to your boy.
Ho’omaika’i ‘ana Bren! Another baby will bring such joy to your home and forever change your ‘ohana. My aloha will be with you and your family, have a great trip: it is sure to be colored with love.

Woohoo!!! Congrats, Bren – that’s awesome to hear.
Funny, I always wanted to name my son Asher because “My Name is Asher Lev” was the first “grown up” book that I enjoyed.
Have a wonderful trip. Enjoy your boys and may the flight home be as quiet and peaceful as it possibly can be!
We’ll look forward to reading your updates when you’re back online.
Sorry for congratulating late – was on leave and couldn’t follow your blog. So here it is: Great news and congratulations. Post some pictures or write about both your developments with each other.
