Slackifying resume writing

Resume writing is a chore. I haven’t met many (any?) people that enjoy writing and revising their resume. Well, ResumeWiki to the rescue!

ResumeWiki is a community edited resume centre. You post your profile (goals, etc) and resume the community of peers will give you comments and possible edits. It is about harnessing the power of lots of eyes to help you get your job. It is kind of like Open Source’ing your resume. Less bugs, more potential, less work for the individual (you).

Beyond editing and commenting on your resume, ResumeWiki is also a ResumeWriting and JobHunting resource, with pages like the Recruiting Blogs list, tips on ResumeWriting, JobHunting tips and a ResourceDirectory which includes a list of more than 30 corporate job hunting sites.

This is a great resource, and Jeremy deserves ample praise for putting it together. Looks like there are only a handful of resumes on the site right now (mine’s not there…yet), but that ought to change as people realize the utility of the site. Here’s what folks might be missing: Jeremy has just introduced a big threat to an entire industry. There are companies that base businesses around reviewing resumes and this site is going to begin to eat away at their lunch. At least, I hope so. I love seeing this kind of grassroots revolution in action, but it won’t really come together until more folks post their resumes and begin reviewing others.
