The government shouldn't 'help' any business with the exception of ensuring they aren't taxed to death. Helping during a downturn means that the Gov must have extra funds to help. If they have extra funds, that means they've been taxing too much. No business should get 'help' from the government, big nor small. Let the markets decide.

Small businesses are the hidden backbone of the US economy, contributing roughly 500 billion dollars to the US economy in 2007. Why are these businesses not being helped more? I'm not saying that the government shouldn't of helped the large mortgage lenders but there should also be an increased focus on small businesses. Think how many jobs could be created if thousands upon thousands of businesses were able to survive with a little more government aid. Small business owners can't sit back and complain, however. They must find seek outside of the box strategies and methods to grow their business, not necessarily coming form the government. Something kind of like this www.readtheanswer.com/index.php?RTA=web2
