Smurfin’ Boxer Told to Stop Smurfin’ Around

Meet Arthur Abraham. Arthur Abraham is the official, recognized IBF middleweight champion. (The IBF being one of the 249 official sanctioning bodies of boxing.) And he’s being sued by the Smurfs.
You see, Arthur’s nickname is the Smurf. Seriously. His ring entrance music is the smurf theme song. He wears a golden smurf hat. For some reason, the Smurf people are upset about this. They have sent a cease-and-desist letter to Abraham, telling him to lose the song and the hat. (The 10 Count; Number 2.)
The whole situation raises two pertinent questions:
1. Why on Earth would Abraham choose “Smurf” as his official boxing nickname? It really doesn’t fit into the whole boxing nickname archetype. Although Smurfin’ Joe Frazier sounds kind of cool.
2. Why are the Smurf people so upset about this? Why do they have a legal team in the first place? It’s not like they have a product to protect anymore. I’m sure Gargamel is involved at some level, this reeks of his handywork.
If the suit sticks and Abraham is forced to drop the Smurfs act, I hope he just buys a new hat and goes with a Snork theme. Now that would be intimidating.
