So hi-res your eyes will bleed

Apparently some folks thought that Half-Life 2 did’t look quite good enough so they developed a mod pack to up everything to a high resolution texture. It also mods it in a variety of other ways. Nothing too substantial from the looks of it though. File front has the link on this one, along with a complete description and some screenshots. They have a couple of side-by-side shots and there is a noticeable difference in how it looks. Noticeable enough to grab the pack and squeeze the lifeforce from your video card? I dunno. I guess if you’re needing something to play again and have the machine specs to try it. Why not?

Think I’m gonna pass on this one though. Maybe if HL2 looked crappy to begin with, but it doesn’t. It looks quite good. Maybe if they make it an option for Aftermath I’ll give it a whirl, but until then, kudos to making a good game look better.
