Social Media for Good Causes

The more social media evolves, the more it’s being adapted for social causes. Recently, at Gnomedex, Beth Kanter raised money to send a Cambodian woman to college. Several people gave very generously, and I sincerely hope that this wasn’t a one off bidding-frenzy because they were all in the same room.
Now, a good friend of mine has joined Buzz Bishop’s team to Run for a Cause, raising money for diabetes research. Diabetes is one of the more prevalent diseases in the world, and I know that pretty much everyone who reads BuzzNetworker knows someone who has been affected by the disease. My aunt has type II diabetes. What about your family, your friends?
Tanya is raising money for the half marathon at Walt Disney World in January. She’s very close to her goal, and needs to raise another $800 by Wednesday, September 3rd.
I bet that if each person who reads this blog and who has been affected in someway by diabetes donated $15 (which is the beginning of the tax deductible donation range), Tanya would make surpass her goal.
So, prove me wrong. Let Beth Kanter’s fundraiser at Gnomedex not be a one off.
