Even people who aren’t interested in the environment understand that over the next generate, a major energy shift needs to take place. Our non-renewable resources aren’t going to last forever.
One report indicates that the most major part of that shift will be to solar power.
Solar power is quickly becoming a cost-effective alternative to fossil fuel-based energy sources, and in less than a decade may cost the same as retail electricity rates across the U.S., according to a new report from Clean Edge and Co-op America.
The groups’ Utility Solar Assessment (USA) Study, offers a way for utilities, solar companies and regulators to bring solar power to 10 percent of the total domestic energy supply by 2025.
The main problem with solar power right now is that it isn’t streamlined. Solar energy is still pricey and non-conventional, so consumers haven’t fully embraced it. Couple that with the fact that the technology is still developing, and you’ve got some major hurdles to jump over the next few years.
Will solar power take over to reign supreme in the world of energy? I think it is possible. Only time will tell – I’ll get back to your in 50 years or so.
