Some Predictions for Uncommited Players

Some of the nation’s top high school players are still uncommitted to school for 2008, and there has been a lot of speculation as to which schools will snag them. Here are my predictions:
Terrelle Pryor, Quarterback, Ranked #1
College List: Florida, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Pittsburgh
I’d like to think that Pryor will go to Penn State, but who are we kidding here? It is obvious that this kid if showing some Big Ten love, which is not hard to believe since he’s from PA (we’re big on Big Ten pride here). Ultimately, I think (and hope) he’ll pick Michigan. Why? He’s a duel-threat quarterback, and that’s exactly what Michigan needs right now. They are traditionally a pro-style school, so that’s what their players know, but with the coaching changes, I think they’ll have their quarterback run the ball more often. Pryor can deal with both of those situations. Pair that with the fact that Ryan Mallet just left the QB position WIDE open, and it has to be really tempting to head there for some freshman year playing time. I just hope he doesn’t pull a Clausen.
Julio Jones, Wide Receiver, Ranked #4 overall (#1 in position)
College List: Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech
This has been one of the most-watched players in recruiting this year, with a number of schools yelling “pick me!” at him. With other top wide receivers going to Georgia, Arkansas, Ohio State, and Notre Dame, Jones is a great chance for another school to come away from the recruiting season with a superstar WR. My prediction is Alabama, but we’ll see.
Omar Hunter, Defensive Tackle, Ranked #17 overall (#2 in position)
College List: Florida, Georgia, USC, Tennessee, Auburn, Michigan, Notre Dame
Defensive players can (and should) be especially picky about where they play because they need to stand out if they want to make it big in the NFL. Otherwise, it’s easy to lump them in with all of the other defensive players and just shrug when someone says their name. Where can Hunter shine? Georgia. The fact that he’s from Georgia also makes me think he’ll ultimately go with this school over another top pick, Florida.
DeAndre Brown, Wide Receiver, Ranked #22 overall (#4 in position)
College List: Florida, LSU, Ole Miss Southern Mississippi, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Miami-FL, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn
Rivals.com experts are split on this one, but with a heavy lean to LSU. I tend to think they’re right. Brown can really shine with the LSU offense, and the fact that they are coming off of an amazing year doesn’t hurt. Kids like to play for winners.
