Sometimes There is a Silver Lining

If you’re a fan of the adventure game series, King’s Quest, you’re going to be a happy camper right now. Phoenix Online Studios is creating the next version of King’s Quest, A Silver Lining, all of this after Vivendi Universal Games, the people who now own King Quest, threw down a vicious cease-and-desist halting the production of the up coming game.

Well, I guess some production companies have a heart and after some deliberation between Vivendi Universal Games, Vivendi agreed to allow for the continuation of the game production with one change: Phoenix Online Studios has to change the name from King’s Quest IX: Every Cloak Has a Silver Lining to just The Silver Lining. This is what Vivendi has to say:

“After extensive evaluation, Vivendi Universal Games is pleased to announce that the fan developed trilogy project ‘The Silver Lining’ (previously known as King’s Quest IX: Every Cloak Has A Silver Lining), based on characters from Sierra Entertainment’s ‘Kings Quest’ series, has been given approval to continue development. We look forward to seeing the first of its three upcoming chapters, ‘Shadows’, completed soon.”

Hey, not too shabby!

Be sure to check out Phoenix Online Studios website for updates to the new King’s Quest. Looks like the new The Silver Lining game is going to be pretty dang awesome.
