Sony Admits To Screw-Ups
![]()
SCEA president Jack Tretton has admitted that maybe Sony has taken a few (dozen) missteps with the launch of the Playstation 3. He talks about how Sony is commited to selling the PS3 over a ten-year period and the company will take steps to rectify past mistakes.
It’s rare to see a company as big as Sony outright admitting, “All right, we screwed up.” It’s good to know Sony’s trying to catch its breath and get back on track.
One thing to keep in mind is that the Internet is now widespread enough to play a major role in console hype. It has been since the N64/Playstation/Saturn began to tussle, but now we’ve got the likes of 4chan and YTMND to forever ridicule spokespeople who say something stupid. Between “giant enemy crab” and “599 US dollars,” Sony has a lot to live down. But they can do it, if they’re careful.
Awww, but lookit Tretton’s smile. He’s learned his lesson.
Let’s get him a present.
