Joining Epson and Hitachi from earlier this year, Sony has stopped their production of rear-projection TVs. This year has not been so fair on the rear-projection market as more and more consumers are turning towards the thinness of LCDs and plasmas, as well as the brightness of the panels. Rear-projections have had some of the best picture quality and best value for the price, while it still had problems such as the old style screen-door/rainbow effect. Currently the major players still in the RPTV business are Samsung and Toshiba, so your choices are dwindling down if you like this technology.
