Sony Makes Love To, Then Spits On, Nintendo DSi

On today’s edition of Ooooh No They Did-nt!, Sony praised Nintendo’s DSi and then urinated across it like Napoleon in Animal Farm, you know the scene with Snowball and the windmill plans and–
Shit.
Gizmodo said it better: “Sony Fondles the New DS With One Hand, Bitchslaps With The Other.”
Sony’s director of hardware marketing, John Koller, was asked what he thought about Nintendo’s DSi. To summarise his response, it’s a kid’s toy, but one of those kids’ toys you secretly ache for even as you receive that nice, practical sweater any respectable 30-year-old would want.
“I can see the DSi being successful. The DS lite was obviously very successful. Will DSi do well with [the DS's] demographic? It probably will. Will it be a product that expands their user base [beyond] under 12? I’m not sure.”
Somebody’s a little cranky. He needs his juicebox and his nap.
“Nintendo has kind of a history of these [moderate] kinds of updates, and even with DS Lite, there was a lot of discussion, “Is that enough?” And they seemed to do pretty well there.”
“Sony doesn’t believe in money-wasting ‘moderate’ upgrades,” Koller added. “We’re very serious about getting it right the first time.”
