Sony Patents PSP-controlled Car

Looks like the folks over at Sony had a spark of brilliance according to a new patent discovered. Seems the SCEE has filed for a remote-controlled car that uses the PSP as its interface. Attached to the car is a small camera that sends the image back to the PSP screen.

Uses for the remote-controlled car include the somewhat terrifying but undoubtedly appealing (depending on which side of the situation you’re in) ability to spy on your friends and then upload video to something like YouTube.

How many lawsuits do you think would come out of something like that?

Further uses – and this sounds pretty awesome – is the notion of an “augmented reality” racing game “in which the game recognizes real objects as elements in the racing game.

Now that is awesome and I bet Nintendo and Microsoft will be kicking themselves that they didn’t come up with this first.

Nice one, Sony. This is definitely the way to catch up to the Nintendo DS.
