Sony Says the PS3’s Hardware and Price is “Coming Together.”

Know what else is “coming together?” Your mom and a barnyard—

No. No, I won’t do this. I will deliver a news story straight for once in my life.

After all, this is serious business. Jack Tretton said that 2008 was going to be the “Year of the Playstation 3.” Well, 2008 is getting a bit long in the tooth and as it so happens, it was and wasn’t the year of the PS3. Sony might have a long way to go before it topples Nintendo or anything dramatic like that (God, how history winds around itself), but the Playstation 3 isn’t quite the laughingstock it was at the start of the year.

Videogame 247 has moar from Shuhei Yoshida, the boss of Sony Worldwide Studios:

“All the things are now coming together in terms of the right hardware, cost and pricing, and we are increasing our hard disc space as we are increasing the content we’re offering through the network and the big titles we’re working on, coming out this Christmas,” he said. “All that is coming together this year.”

And, obviously, next year’s plans are continuing apace.

“I definitely hope so,” said the dev chief when we asked if he believed 2009 would be another “PS3 year.”

No doubt Sony is doing better, but the comments following the story are worth a graze. There are still a lot of complaints about the Playstation 3’s price, Sony. More gamers would invite you to their birthday parties if you did something about that. One thing at a time, I suppose.
