The new police series, Southland, premieres tonight and I’ve been really looking forward to it. I know it might sound cheesy but I liked the first two seasons of The O.C. and I think that Benjamin McKenzie is a relatively good actor (did you see him in Junebug?). Based on that casting alone, Southland, might draw in viewers.

The show is meant to provide a “a raw and authentic look at a police unit in Los Angeles. From the beaches of Malibu to the streets of East Los Angeles. Southland is a fast-moving drama that will take viewers inside the lives of cops, criminals, victims and their families.” Other cast members include Regina King, Tom Everett Scott, and John Wells. I think that with the right direction, this could be a very powerful drama that could easily slide into ER’s former night and time.
