Francisco Javier Fernandez, of Spain, set a record at the Spanish Championships earlier today.  He completed the 10km Race Walk in 37 minutes, 53.09 seconds!  That’s an incredible time!

“After this race, it is obvious that I am in form and going to aim for a medal in Beijing, although I will find some very difficult rivals there” Fernandez said.

He is definitely a contender for a medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.  In fact, he has won a medal at each and every Olympic, World and European Championship event since 2002.
