Spam Blogs: Who You Going to Tell?

(www.businessandblogging.com) Recently I wrote a post about a spam blog stealing content from Laura and me.  In a follow-up post I lamented the fact that there was little that could be done about this type of theft, other than putting a link back to the originating site within the post and hope that readers could find their way back to the source.

Since then I have learned that there are avenues to report these specious blogs.

Both Wordpress and Blogger have a spam blog communication form in which you can report blogs for them to investigate.  My understanding is that if they discover splogs on their system, they will shut them down.

Remember: report to the blogging tool that the spam blogger is using – not the one that your own blog is using – unless they happen to be the same.

Google is also interested in knowing about blogs that are really splogs.

According to Google:  if your Google search returns a result that you suspect is spam, you please let us know by using this form. We thoroughly investigate every report of deceptive practices and take appropriate action when we uncover genuine abuse. In especially egregious cases, we will remove spammers from our index immediately, so they don’t show up in search results at all. At a minimum, we’ll use the data from each spam report to improve our site ranking and filtering algorithms, which, over time, should increase the quality of our results.

Do you know of any other places to report Spam Blogs?

For instance, I couldn’t find a form on TypePad or Yahoo!.  If so, let me know.

And also let me know any experience you’ve had with battling Splogs!!
