Spanish Cyclist First to Fail Drug Test in Beijing

The first doping scandal of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games has arrived.  Maria Isabel Moreno, a Spanish cyclist, has tested positive for the endurance-boosting EPO drug, according to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Moreno was tested on July 31st and has now been stripped of her Games accreditation.  She also could now face a two-year ban which could mean, under the new IOC rules, that she might also miss the 2012 London Olympics.
