WTF? Does anyone get this? Let’s break it down. They’re looking for essay writers to deliver to TV stations? What does this mean? Will we ride in the basket of a bike and get dumped in the vestibule like a bunch of Chinese menus? Is there a special essay delivery department? Will they sort us according to topic? Really, I had no clue television stations were in need of essay writers. I don’t see too many essay programs these days. Maybe they’re looking to do a whole show centered around “What I Did on My Summer Vacation.”

So that’s the headline. Let’s get to the meat of the matter.

A top production company is seeking writers. Let me say that again in case it didn’t sink in. A top production company is advertising on Craigslist for writers. In addition to having us create an essay, because they can’t get an idea of our writing style from any of our published clips, they’re going to be checking for spelling and grammar. Oh wait, that’s spelling ans grammar. So this same top production company that’s looking for essay writers to deliver to television stations doesn’t have an HR Rep or Administrative Assistant who knows how to write a coherent ad? Is poor grammatically and spelling challenged Lisa all they have? Will she be pedaling the bike?

Ass.

Curmudgeon, you are missing the point. The ad clearly states that this esteemed production company is looking for essay writers TO DELIVER TO TV STATIONS. In other words, they want the WRITERS to make deliveries to the stations (videotapes? William F. Buckley bobbleheads? free pizzas?). Perhaps this is a way to build the image of the production company – we are so good that we have QUALIFIED ESSAY WRITERS as delivery people. Wow, that idea has “essay” written all over it. Where do I sign up?

  2. Kristen King says:

Maybe they’re launching a TV show about a struggling writer who takes a job as a TV station courier to make ends meet while waiting for his big break and they wants writers with personal experience to pen the pilot script?

I don’t suppose I should say what I’d like to deliver to this alleged “top production company”…
