Spongebob’s Greatest Hits CD

I didn’t realize that music from SpongeBob Squarepants was being released on CD but apparently it is since the SpongeBob’s Greatest Hits album came out earlier this week.  Some people might think this animated show is just for kids but I’d argue that adults could understand the humor a little better so I’m not ashamed to admit that I watched this show long before my kids ever discovered it.

I also won’t shy away from the fact that I recognized most of the songs I heard on the album’s preview.  Of course, it includes the super infectious theme song but it also has favorites like “The Goofy Goober Song,” “Where’s Gary” and “Doing the Sponge” among others.

I was surprised to see a reworked version of the theme song by Cee-Lo and Pink performing “We’ve Got Scurvy.”

Sure, it’s silly and a little childish but it’s actually a pretty fun little collection of songs.  It’s also great for road trips when you need to play something that will appease your kids when you’ve really gotten sick of listening to Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers.
