With IBM and other companies helping companies put in place social networking websites for their businesses we are on the verge of seeing every site have a social networking component to it.
The Super Bowl Champions, the Indianapolis Colts, have put some social networking components on their website, where users are rewarded with Colts Cred for their participation.
Beyond the Colts, leagues have jumped on the bandwagon of user generated content and social networking. Major League Baseball operates a site where fans can set up their own blogs, MLBlogs. Plus you can read Alyssia Milano’s exclusive blog about what Dodger she is currently sleeping with.
These niche sites are something that should have a good, strong, central audience, and should have a small amount of success by keeping fans in house. This is something that we are going to see expand over the next year and become commonplace.
