Starcraft now a classic?

Hmmm, I’m engaged in a lively debate with a colleague about Starcraft already being a classic. Well, Starcraft isn’t exactly old, but with the dawn of the new and improved Starcraft 2 waiting in the wings, it’s only a matter of time before the predecessor gets tossed into a bin labeled “Games Your Daddy Used To Play.”

It has the makings of a classic. Starcraft has been with us for a decade. Starcraft was, and still is, a game played by at least three generations of gamers. Starcraft serves as a guidepost for current and future real-time strategy games. And the list goes on.

So why shouldn’t Starcraft be considered a classic?

Make your daddy proud. Master Starcraft 2 and earn brownie points from your old man.
