Starting a Small Business After Retirement?

Retirement is a great time to start that small business you’ve always dreamed of running, but never had the courage to jump in and take a chance on. My in-laws are retired, and have been running a successful concession business for quite a few years. They work really hard for a few months of the year, and travel most of the winter.

If you enjoy something, starting a small business is definitely an avenue to explore, especially with retirement accounts in the dumpster with the stock market, and pension plans in jeopardy. As the baby boomers are hitting retirement age, social security isn’t looking like a good plan to rely on either.
A small business could be the back up plan for your retirement plan. Especially if you’re not ready to just sit back and take it easy.
Pick something you enjoy doing, that you think has definite business possibilities and give it a try, but don’t throw your entire retirement nest egg at it.
Pick something you can start on a small budget, or maybe purchase an existing small business with a good track record.
Many people are living longer and healthier lives these days, running a small business and staying active can actually help you stay healthy and have a purpose in life.
You don’t have to work long hours, there are many businesses you can work part time. With the internet, and so many wireless internet options these days, you may even be able to run your small business while you’re traveling.
You don’t have to wait until you retire to start your small business, if you start sooner, then maybe you can retire sooner:-)

Running a business as you travel using the Internet is ideal for RVers. You can conduct business anywhere. It is one of the many options. Sales is another good area for RVers who want to be able to change locations at will.
