Starting the conversation

It’s interesting, this blog industry we have. One disadvantage about blogs is that when a writer leaves, readers visibly notice unlike in magazines where it takes about a month to resolve hiring a new writer and by that time people don’t really notice. On the other hand, there are people who read blogs not because of the person doing the thought train, but because of what the site talks about. I guess anyone can write about technology nowadays so having a tech blog that stands out in the blogosphere – and yeah even mentioned in the evening news – is pretty much an achievement worth writing home about.
So it is with that thought that I take on the admin control of this blog. Hi I’m Jayvee Fernandez and I’ve been with b5media expressing my voice over at Cellphone9 since 2005. I’ve reviewed a ton of phones apart from other stuff – cameras, laptops, accessories, so yeah I’ve made my rounds in print media and online as well. I’ve been an editor both for blogs and the glossies and I do hope I can use this blog to express my deepest thoughts about the industry.
By day I run a blog advertising network based in the Philippines and have involved myself in a lot of education and training on new media benefits for schools and institutions. It’s also my birthday today – and if that’s meant to be something symbolic, well, gee. How nice.
My knowledge of technology pretty much comes from all the information shot through podcasts and press releases from the west and east. I live in Asia. At times, listening to stuff from the other side of the pond makes me go “hey that’s really cool, I wish we had that back here” while other times I just have to say “OMG they’re just releasing that NOW? We’ve had that for ages.”
Let’s get comfy and start some conversation.

Hello Jayvee. Welcome to Tech Side Up, and a very happy birthday to you.
