Startup Tips – Doing Your Homework

Before you jump into a startup, doing your homework first is always the smart move. Doing your homework might be boring and it might be time consuming, but it’s very important in each stage of your startup and allows you construct short-term and long-term goals.

When doing your homework, the easiest way to get answers is to go to potential customers for answers. Here are some questions you should ask:

Is the customer happy?
If you find that potential customers aren’t happy with the current product or service, this is a very good sign that a startup can succeed in this field.

What does the customer want?
Rarely will potential customers be 100% satisfied with the current options. Ask what they want. This will allow your startup to focus on a niche.

Is the customer open to change?
You’d be surprised at how many unhappy potentials won’t change their current manner of business — even if they are shown a better product or service.

How much will the customer spend?
This is an important question that is often overlooked. If potential customers aren’t willing to pay your price, you may need to find ways to trim the price of your product or service.
