Stephen King Disapproves of Mass. Game Law
It’s nice to see big names in other mainstream media come to the defense of video games considering the reputational slander that’s being slapped on the entire industry thanks to the crusading efforts of external parties and the marauding stupidity of some internal folks. Stephen King, himself attached very firmly to the world of scary, creepy and violent, stepped up to the plate to say something that gamers have been saying for a long time:
“…when I heard about HB 1423 [I] hit the roof. HB 1423 would restrict or outright ban the sale of violent videogames to anyone under the age of 18. Which means, by the way, that a 17-year-old who can get in to see Hostel: Part II would be forbidden by law from buying (or renting, one supposes) the violent but less graphic Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.”
Hopefully with Stephen King’s name behind the statement, it’ll start to sink in that there are other equally and/or more violent entertainment media forms out there then video games (I’m not hopeful).
