Still No Texas Poker

Well Jose Menendez tried, but a bill to allow poker at racetracks had to be pulled because of lack of support in the Texas legislature. What is it about politicians not wanting us to gamble? I say put limits on the rakes and let the good times roll.

What is it about our society where we have to pretend stuff isn’t actually happening?  There are about 300 million elephants in rooms across the United States but Americans have amazingly adapted to living around those elephants and still trying to host tea parties at their house.  Should a guest inquire about the 7 ton animal behind the couch, their question is shot down as rude and they may be asked to leave.

The Texas legislature houses one of the biggest scams of all time that robs money from the poor every day.  It’s called the lottery.  If you go to the right gas station (or the wrong one depending on how you look at it), you’ll find people who play the scratch off tickets as if there is some strategy to it.  But they fund the schools right?  Ha – how much money do you think the schools ever see?  Have you ever heard of a lie chart?  If you want to see one, click here.  And if you want to see something that’s just funny, click here.

Even if you want to believe the fairy tale that the Texas Lottery is really this philanthropic entity that only does good for the people (hey they’re at a .org so that must mean it’s non-profit), they’re steal robbing the poor blind through GAMBLING!  Shhhh don’t tell the Legislature that.  Reality might strike them down.

While I’m at it, the greatest ponzi scheme ever wasn’t pulled off by Bernie Madoff.  See there’s this thing called social security…

Great entry! I’m from Dallas, TX and couldn’t agree more.

Sounds like we probably think alike on a host of issues…

Social Security, a great idea in theory, continually needs revampment so it doesn’t become obsolete. I just hope this Administration has a better, more efficient and well thought out plan than the previous one.

Thanks Gerardo! – I’m from SA.

I completely agree that most of the programs area actually sound from a theoretical POV but then of course greed, power, corruption, politics, and propaganda take hold and ruin so many awesome ideas at the core.
