Stock Market Rally is ON

The US stock market is storming back today, with the financial sector buoyed by news that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are going to be enjoying easing regulations. Additionally, other financial sector stocks are enjoying a resurgence as earnings come in above forecast for some companies.

But the next question is this: How long will it last? There is no denying that over time the stock market gains, but is this momentary stock market rally just that — momentary?

Confidence boosting efforts so far have been mostly show. So this could be something that is unsupported by fundamentals. At any rate, in times of volatility it is important to focus on the fundamentals. Stay away from the “hot” stocks and focus on the solid stocks that are likely to regain their value  a little more permanently when the turmoil is over.
