Study Confirms Old Videos Get Watched a Lot

Offline video is mostly ephemeral, hence the phrase 15 minutes of fame. Online video, by contrast, promises a longer-lasting 15 megabytes of fame. As Steve Rubel notes, olds are the new news.

Now we’re seeing some data to back up those catchphrases. Lester Craft points out an a study that says almost 20% of total views generated in 2007 were delivered by videos published in 2006 or before.

That makes you wonder: when TV types mock online fame as a flash in the pan, do they really know what they’re talking about?
