Study Shows Men & Women See Beauty Differently

Research Confirms Why You Don’t Want to Accept Blind Date With Your Co-Worker’s ‘Cute’ Friend

A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science show that men and women appreciate beauty in different ways. The study was conducted by showing pictures of urban scenes and landscapes to male and female test subjects and asking them to classify the scenes as “beautiful” or “not beautiful.” Researchers questioned 10 women volunteers and 10 men who had to be tied to a chair and paid cash to ensure their participation in the study. The scientists who conducted found the results surprising.

“It is well known that there are differences between brain activity in women and men in cognitive tasks,” said researcher Camilla J. Cela-Conde of the University of Baleares in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. “However, why should this kind of difference appear in the case of appreciation of beauty?” wondered Ms. Cela-Conde as she pulled off her glasses, pursed her glistening full lips and shook loose a luxurious mane of shiny black hair. The study was halted at that point when electronic monitors attached to the male participants in the study inexplicably began to malfunction and start smoking. Researchers stress the scientific evidence that women use their whole brain while men use only the right side of their brain to appreciate beauty has practical implications.

The results confirm that men only have to be half-drunk at 3:00 a.m. to consider going home with the fug chick at the end of the bar. Women, on the other hand, need to be totally trashed before they’ll consider sleeping with the wheezing fat dude with bad breath. Follow-up studies have shown that no amount of alcohol will eliminate the feelings of shame and regret the next morning. In those instances, circadian rhythms and substantial amounts of daylight have the exact same effect on both men and women.

Men appreciate beauty with only half their brain. Duh! They have to use the other half of their brain to work their right hand…
