Subaru and the Potato Plant

I’m a sometimes reader of the New York Times, so I was struck when I saw Thomas Friedman’s Lexus and the Olive Tree in the library. The beauty of a library is that I can pick a book up, thumb through it, bring it home, and, if I don’t like it, not read it with absolutely no guilt feelings at all. Since I’m cheap, that appeals to me, and it’s also practical because my house is too small for the books I have already.

I digress. The book is premised on the idea that globalization is effectively a new world order, one which is largely privately financed and operated. It’s an observation which borders on the self-evident at this point, but I’m looking forward to hearing Friedman’s take on it. I’ll let you know how I like it when (and if) I’m done reading it.

In the meantime, any other book recommendations out there?
