Sugar Alcohol A Sweeter, Safer Alternative?

trident Since Elaine from Genetics And health got me going on this Aspartame Phobia, it has had me looking into the ingredient and nutritional facts on a lot of the products that I use. I chew a lot of gum and of course I choose low-cal or sugar free gum. One particular “Sugar Free” gum I chew, Trident, uses Xylitol. Xylitol is a name for a Sugar alcohol. Well what is sugar alcohol?

“Sugar alcohols are neither sugars nor alcohols. They are carbohydrates with a chemical structure that partially resembles sugar and partially resembles alcohol, but they don’t contain ethanol as alcoholic beverages do.”(Source)

The link below gives you just about all the information you will need on learning about sugar alcohols. I’ve looked at quite a few web pages about Sugar Alcohols VS Aspartame. While Aspartame has many scary side effects, the only scary side effect I have found that you may get from Sugar Alcohols is a mild case of diarrhea if you consume too much. I rather have a little gas or diarrhea than cancer any day.

If you haven’t had a chance to weigh the facts about Aspartame then I highly suggest you read my post and follow the links at the bottom to learn more. If you truly want to live a healthy life you need to read Elaine’s Aspartame posts.

I used to chew a lot of Stride up until I read your article on Aspartame. I check just about everything now. I know I probably can’t avoid aspartame in everything that I eat, but I can sure as hell avoid a lot more than I used to. Thank you for convincing me that it’s no good.

No aspartame is allowed to be made into those chemicals that can cause seizures very easily those are the reasons why I stay away from the aspartame. Because that is bad so Xylitol is best for everybody aspartame is horrible.
