Summer Olympic Sports: Water Polo

Water polo became an Olympic sport for men with the 1900 Games. Women’s water polo was added in 2000. Hungary has historically dominated the men’s competition, taking home 14 medals, 8 of those Gold Medals.

In Beijing the men’s and women’s water polo matches will be held at the Ying Tung Natatorium, a 4852-seat venue in the Olympic Sports Center.
