Suntech, one of the largest solar energy companies in the world, has reached agreements with four different government agencies in the country of China to develop solar projects. Those four Chinese government agencies are: Shaanxi, Shizuishan, Qinghai and Panzhihua.
Three of the solar projects will be 500MW, while the fourth will be 300MW. While initial agreements have been reached, there’s still a ways to go before the construction begins.
“These strategic agreements demonstrate the commitment of governments of Shaanxi, Shizuishan, Qinghai and Panzhihua to adopt utility scale solar energy to power sustainable development,” said Dr. Zhengrong Shi, the CEO of Suntech. “Plentiful solar resources combined with Suntech’s premium quality solar systems can deliver decades of clean, renewable electricity throughout many regions in China. With ongoing investment in technology and innovation, Suntech is determined to continue to drive the cost to grid parity and encourage greater adoption of solar throughout China.”
This isn’t Suntech’s first time to work with China. In fact, Suntech has a large amount of experience working with Chinese government agencies. Their previous work includes solar projects at the Beijing Jingya Hotel, Wuxi Airport and the Shanghai World Expo.
