Table Image

I talked a little bit this week or last week about how maintaining a tight table image can end up win you pots with right timed bets. Here’s about the ultimate example of that, where Todd Brunson, after playing super tight, gets Negreanu to make a really huge fold and give away a nice sized pot simply because Todd on High Stakes is known to hardly ever mess around.

I still think he got pretty lucky on this hand that Negreanu was able to give him credit for such a hand, but that also plays into the effect that in order for bluffs to work you have to be playing against opponents who are good enough to make a big fold.

A lot of the guys at the cash games I frequent couldn’t fold an ace high flush with a pair on the board for $100k I guarantee.

Which equals another lesson: know what your opponent is capable of folding.

  1. I just love to see when things happens like they do in your video. It’s all about respect. Not everyone can maintain a poker face like the professionals and one player who is surprising me every time is Gus Hansen.

I’ve seen plenty of times when he moves all his money into the pot and what does he has? A lousy pair of four. This is one reason why poker is my favorite game.
