TechCrunch Loves Canada

TechCrunch must have a thing for Canada these days. Last week, it put the spotlight on Ottawa-based Clutzr; today’s it’s profiling Toronto-based OurFaves – a new service that has been spun off from the Toronto Star that combines city search, social networking and user-generated content. Given Canada seems to be behind the Web 2.0 ball, it’s encouraging to see one company tackling three areas: local search, social networking and user-generated content at the same time. Like a local local search/USG services, OurFaves’ success will hinge on how many users it can attract – the more users, the more useful it will be. What makes OurFaves appealing is the ability to designate places as “faves”, tag them, offer feedback and comments, and provide photographs.
