Technology Vendors Have High Hopes on Windows 7

Windows 7 has already been released last October 22 and technology vendors are hoping and expecting that their sales growth would be spurred by the buying public on Windows 7 going into the holiday season. I can’t remember what article I have read the analysis but it was about the spending habits of most people. According to that analysis a large percentage of the annual income and annual shopping of people are spent during holiday season. We are already approaching the holidays within the next month or so and the release of Windows 7 coupled with positive remarks and notes like those I have published here are expected to boost the sales of technology vendors.

HP, HCL, Samsung, Dell, Acer are technology companies that have recently been launching one product after another all geared with a Windows 7 package. Microsoft has confirmed that they are looking at around 100 new personal computers to be launched within the month in India that is powered by Windows 7. One example of this is Samsung wherein their director of IT and Telecom Ranjit Yadav said that the Indian market is seeing signs of revival and the launch of Windows 7 creates more excitement. He adds that by the end of the year they would have eight netbooks and notebooks that would be packaged with Windows 7.

Recent data from IDC has said that the Indian PC market has grown by 5.2% during April to June this year compared to 15% slumping compared to year 2008.

HP also has something to say with Windows 7 and the tech industry growth, where HP India president of personal system group Ravi Swaminathan told ET that Windows 7 has inherent features which brings the touch technology into the mainstream and because of this they have earlier released products that utilize this tech and would also be releasing more in the coming months.

Windows 7 has no negative reports since its launching and while this is barely a week old thousands of users has already lined up the electronic stores to purchase their license and we have yet to see disappointed folks. I think the debacle in Windows Vista also helps as people gets happy easily especially when coming from a beleaguered operating system.

In the next few months it would be exciting to see massive product lines being released that use the full capability of Windows 7 and I personally would wait a little longer to upgrade my laptop.

How about you? Are you helping boost the sales of the tech industry? What are your purchase plans in the coming months?
