Teen Anti-Steroid Use Campaign Don’t Be An Asterisk

You hear about it all the time. Teens using steroids to get that one up on their opponent on the playing field, the wrestling mat, the swimming pool, etc. It’s rather disturbing how easily it is for kids to get steroids and what’s even more disturbing is that they are so eager to take them with no regards for the side effects. I can understand that kids are competitive in everything they do, especially during high school years. It’s all about the NOW. Get big, play hard, get the girls, get a sports scholarship, whatever. Perhaps their P.E. teachers and coaches aren’t teaching them enough about the side effects of steroid use and abuse. Some people would blame the parents and say that it is their responsibility to teach their children these thing, but the parents are just as oblivious to it as their kids are. Since the use in teens is growing at an alarming rate, I think it is the schools responsibility to teach them and I think it’s the parents responsibility to study up on steroid use to be aware of changes in their children.

The AD Council has started a Campaign against the use of steroids by teens called Don’t Be An Asterisk. Check out the link and the short video below for more information. What ever happened to working harder and practicing more to be better?
