Being an entrepreneur means that you have made a choice to operate your own business so that you have have a flow of income that you control. In making this choice, you are becoming the “bread winner” or an income maker in your household.

As an entrepreneur, there are certain skill sets that can help you be successful as you operate your business. Below are 10 areas that you can review to see how you fit in with being an entrepreneur:
- Self-starter
- Communicate with other well
- Leadership skills
- Responsible
- Organized
- Hard worker
- Decision maker
- Trust-worthy
- Finish projects
- Good record keeper
Now, let’s see how many of the areas you have as a skill set from above. To start off determining whether you are an entrepreneur or not, select the areas that apply to you below. Scoring (give yourself 10 points for each area that applies to you):
- 100 = Strong entrepreneur skills and your are ready to start a business
- 90 – 99 = Good entrepreneur skills and ready to start business. Plan on improving in weak area.
- 75 – 89 = Some good entrepreneur skills, just need to improve in weak areas as you plan your buisness
- 45 – 74 = Weak entrepreneur skills, may not be successful as an entrepreneur. If you want to be an entrepreneur, you will definitely need to have a mentor guide you.
- 44 and below = Very weak entrepreneur skills and your success factor as an entrepreneur is very low. Seek input from an organization like SCORE.org to see if being an entrepreneur is a good fit for you.
