Text Message Marketing – Tips and Tricks

Millions of people send and receive text messages each day. As a result, marketers have really begun to enter the text messaging arena. If you are considering a text messaging marketing campaign, here are some tips and tricks to text message marketing:

1. Do it legally
If you acquire phone numbers illegally or any type of sneaky way, you are basically just waisting your time and putting your freedom and financial health in jeopardy. In short: Don’t spam!

2. Be wise
With Twitter marketing and other similar forms of marketing, more is better. However, that is not the case with text message marketing. At most, you should send out about one text message per week.

3. Have a point
Random text messages with no real point are annoying. Instead, make it exciting. Examples include a coupon, free sample or exclusive offer.

4. Short and sweet
No one wants to read a long text message — especially when you are on the go. With that in mind, make the text message as short as possible.

5. Complement
Text message marketing by itself isn’t hugely effective and can be costly. One helpful trick is to use text messaging to complement other existing marketing campaigns.
