Thanksgiving Weekend Match Ups

For some this is the last game of the regular season. (Some have one more game next weekend.) Here’s looking at the Thanksgiving match ups for the BCS top 25:

Thursday:

#11 USC at #6 Arizona State at 8 PM on ESPN:  Guess I know what I’m doing tomorrow night! Really, this going to be a great game, and I’m excited to see which team will come out victorious. My prediction: USC

Friday:

#13 Texas at Texas A&M at 3:30 PM on ABC: No contest. Texas will thump them. I say that with such confidence, but Texas A&M isn’t that bad of a team, and really, stranger things have happened this season…My prediction: Texas

#19 Boise State at #15 Hawaii at 9:00 PM on ESPN2: Can Colt Brennan (or his backup) persevere and lead the ‘Bows through the season undefeated? I think it’s likely. Hawaii has some great momentum going! However, Boise State doesn’t look too shabby, and I think that Hawaii will hav eto play their hearts out to win. My prediction: Hawaii

Saturday:

#8 Virginia Tech at #16 Virginia at noon on ESPN2: Ooo, tough call. I respect Virginia Teach’s ranking (they’ve been playing awesome), but at the same time, I think Virginia is a pretty decent team too. If I have to choose, I’ll go with Virginia Tech. They have the same record as Virginia, but their losses came to more significant teams (LSU and BC). My prediction: Virginia Tech

Miami (FL) at #14 Boston College at noon on ESPN: Boston College should be able to win this one easily. I say “should” because you never know. They’ve been shaky at best over the past month, falling from their place as possible National Champs to unsure if they’l even play in a major bowl game. My prediction: Boston College

#23 South Florida at Pittsburgh at noon  (not televised): Pittsburgh has a football team? I kid, I kid. But really, this should be a gimme. My prediction: South Florida

#18 Tennessee at Kentucky at 1:30 PM on CBS: I actually think that Tennessee is ranked a bit high for their own good.  Remember when Kentucky beat LSU? Good times. With Woodson in the lead, I think they’ll come out on top again. My prediction: Kentucky

Utah at #25 Brigham Young at 2 PM (not televised): Does anyone really care about this game? Let me try BYU and Utah…hmmm….nope, not caring. Sorry. My prediction: BYU

#20 Connecticut at #3 West Virginia at 3:30 PM on ABC: This should be one of the better games of the weekend. Connecticut is a good team, and West Virginia has an inflated rank in my opinion. Still, I think they’ll hold out if they get some momentum going early on in the game. My prediction: West Virginia

#7 Georgia at Georgia Tech at 3:30 on ABC: Georgia has been a strong team all season, and people haven’t been giving them much credit. This weekend should be an easy win for them. My prediction: Georgia

#9 Oregon at UCLA at 3:30 on ABC: UCLA was once ranked. Remember that? Since then, they’ve fallen, showing that they really aren’t that great this season. Oregon, on the other hand, is falling apart without Dixon.  So really, this will be a game of “who sucks less.” My prediction: Oregon

OK State at #10 Oklahoma: I have a confession – I haven’t followed Oklahoma like, at all. Just too many other teams making news. I feel grossly inadequate to talk about this game, but looking at the teams’ states, I think this is a safe to say this will be an OK game. My prediction: Oklahoma

Florida State at #12 Florida at 5 PM on CBS: Tim Tebow’s performance in this game will dictate how it goes – and also if he’ll win the Heisman. If he has an off day, his chances could be dashed. It’s a game to watch. My prediction: Florida

#22 Clemson at South Carolina at 7 PM on ESPN: I won’t get to watch this game, as I have plans on Saturday evening, but luckily, I don’t think I’ll miss anything here. Clemson is a strong team, and I think they’ll win rather easily. My prediction: Clemson

#24 Cincinnati at Syracuse at 7:15 PM on ESPNU: Again, looks like I won’t be missing anything. My prediction: Cincy

#4 Missouri at #2 Kansas at 8 PM on ABC: Now this is the game I’m sad about missing. Missouri/Kansas may very well tell us who’s going to play in the National Championship game. Not only will it be a close low-scoring game, in my opinion, we’ll get to see two teams play…I mean REALLY play. My it all on the line. God, I love games like that. My prediction: Kansas
