John or Cassandra may answer. If we dont answer, leave a message saying its for cassandra regarding a job for a grant and leave your number. (My hubbie and i kept our houston number when we moved cuz its cheap.
you can email me but i prefer not unless you have a lot of stuff you would like to tell me or send me a resume.
we are veryt very very very very new so we pplease ask that you go easy on us on the pay.

Let’s forget the punctuation and capitalization issues. Lets skip the obvious lack of spellcheck. Instead, I want to concentrate on the “access to grants” thing. What does that mean, access to grants? Does it mean they already have grants, and if so, why do they need a grant writer? Ok, well maybe it’s obvious why they need a writer. In the year I’ve been doing this, I’ve never seen something so poorly written.

Does it mean they know a few grants for which they can apply? If so, that makes a bit more sense. If ever there is an individual or two screaming for a professional writer, this pair is it. What I don’t understand is the lack of proofreading. You don’t have to be the greatest writer in the world to notice the obvious errors.

There’s other silliness here too. She doesn’t want email, only phone calls to her personal home, which “hubby” may or may not answer. Now, if a potential client tells you she’s too cheap to spring for a business line, or even use her cell phone number, does this not tell you she’s a little to cheap for a match made in freelance writing heaven?

Which brings me to my next point.

What does “go easy on the pay” mean? Does anyone else feel that perhaps this woman has a lot of nerve? If she has access to so many grants, does she not realize what’s involved in writing a proposal? It’s not a $10 job. Cassandra is two things: cheap and not so bright. Really, it’s a bad combination. At least smart & cheap people are shrewd in their business dealings. Cassandra is proving herself to be too dumb to get far.

This is one of the worst ads I’ve come across yet. Not only is the writing and spelling atrocious but anyone who uses the word “hubby” while conducting business isn’t going to get very, very, very, very far.

Ass.

So, as a former grant writer I can say that most people who think they know what they are doing when they say things like “they have access to grants” are very, very, very, very, misguided about the entire grant process. The only way that even makes sense to say is if they are paying for access to one of the large private grants site (unlikely since they want cheap work — real grant sites are expensive).

People who think grants are easy are one of my personal pet peeves and these people have trouble written all over them. Although, this post did make me laugh very x’s a lot. Good one.
