The US Census Bureau is hiring 1.2 million people! The Census Bureau is recruiting temporary part-time census takers for the 2010 Census. The salary is $18 per hour, paid training, paid weekly, the hours are flexible and you can work close to your home. You will also be reimbursed for authorized mileage and related expenses. Every 10 years, we conduct a census of our population. Thousands of people are needed to update address lists and conduct interviews with community residents.

If you are interested in applying to be a Census taker, contact your local Census Office or call 1-866-861-2010.

$18 an hour. Heck, I may just apply for that.

  2. Hi Tracee! Thank you for visiting Interview Chatter today. I am glad this post was helpful. Please feel free to stop and let me know whether you actually applied for the position and whether you took the opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you again.

  3. 1.2 million people. That is a large number and I am certain could provide or offset the income lost by families during the turndown. Thanks for the insight, I am certain most people did not know this was out there.

  4. This was a great find for me. I do believe that people who really need an opportunity can get their foot in the door. I hope that those who need a job will apply. It may not be a dream job, but $18.00 per hour will feed a family.

I took the census test on Dec 19th, I called to find out my score and was told that people who took the test on this date will not be called in until about two months. I was not able to receive my score. I live in new york.

i took the test in January and 2 weeks ago received a call that I was hired. Great news for me. Go to the Census website for a copy of the sample test. It was very helpful and helped me get a good score on the test.
