The Classic Daiquiri

I’m sitting outside right now as I type this and my feet are cold and that tells me one thing…OK…two things. #1 My feet are cold and #2 that SummerSummer is officially transitioning into Fall.

So, for one last Summer drink, I thought that I’d give you the recipe for a classic daiquiri. Trust me. It’s not what you think it is.

A classic daiquiri isn’t colored and it’s not slushy and it’s not super sweet. A classic daiquiri resembles a mojito [kinda] more than it resembles what you’re thinking of when you think “daiquiri”.

The Classic Daiquiri

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz light rum
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp simple syrup
  • ice

Directions:

Fill your cocktail shaker half full of ice and add your other ingredients.

Shake everything until it’s well mixed and very cold. Strain the mix into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a happy umbrella if you have one hanging around.
