The Ironic Mack Brown

As advertised, Friday Night Lights was a fantastic show. There will be a replay tonight on NBC, I recommend TiVoing it and watching it after the Yankees game. And although there is a story line right out of Varsity Blues, iit really was a great pilot showing a lot of potential. And the actual game action really looks like football. Not every hit was a leaping, unbelievable tackle. Sometimes they simply wrapped up and took the player to the ground. I appreciate that sort of realism. That always bothers me about most modern football movies. It never looks like they’re playing football, more like professional wrestling. I was really refreshing to see a fairly accurate portrayal of football action. But the true highlight of the hour was the Mack Brown cameo. Mack plays a concerned, football-crazy adult who grills the new coach. Look for the little bit of irony regarding the necessity of a great quarterback to win championships.
