Who hasn’t heard of the legendary Jamaican Bobsled Team that competed during the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary? I sure have. But alright, it’s mainly due to the Walt Disney movie, Cool Runnings that immortalised their first ever effort at the sport during the Olympics.
They reminded me of the fact that Olympics isn’t just about the sport but also about the people behind it. Athletes, coaches, and, of course, the millions of supporters that the team have in their respective countries. Everyone has their own story to tell.
Training hard for the Olympics brings all the elements together to come up with a spectacular showing of sportsmanship and camaraderie between and among teammates and competitors. It’s a glorious sight.
The Jamaican Bobsled team is a good example of discipline and passion to achieve what most people may have assumed impossible. They overcomed hardships and paved a way for future athletes of the sport to compete.
It makes you wonder how amazing the things that the Olympics has inspired people to do and achieve.

For those that say this team are loser has no idea what it means to be out there and work hard. For all the negative people out there, why don’t you get up and try to do the same thing that these men have done — so that the next time you talk your b.s. you have already walked in their shoes.
It’s VERY easy to say people suck when all you do is sit down and watch them on TV.
Get out there and make your own team, train and let’s see what you say then.

yo i loved your movie, but you really let me down when i was three years old and i was watching the olympics. You people are so arrogant! What is wrong with you? I for one, think our Jamaian bobsled team of 1988 did quite well seeing that it was our first attempt ever. I cant believe that you people are supposed to be civilised individuals! As for the individual who refers to our men as ugly and monkeys, I ask that you truly evaluate yourself as an individual. I am sure that you can not hold a candlestick next to our men in terms of looks. Besides that, you guys are just materialistic, shallow, ignorant and hurtful and i am deeply angered and sorry for you at the same time. How dare you refer to another human being as an ape? Slavery has been abolished for over 300 years so I beieve it is about time that you get over it! Find something productive to do, get a job, try to be a better person, try to build a better relationship with god because obviously you people dont have any existing relationship with him. If you did, you would not have spent your time writing this utter rubbish. And for the record, I sugget that you people enroll in some English classes becuse you have some serious GRAMMATICAL issues! Instead of spending time focusing on hate, you need to work on forward movement. Step away from the dark ages and move toward the light. Life is too short to be spending time on HATE! Come on people, wake up and smell the roses! The next time you wish to “hate” on somebody, think about the fact that there is only one race and that is the human race AND remember that no one is made perfect, we all have flaws. Yeah, I don’t understand the blatant ignorance of some of you people either. Seriously Mr. William Combs? They let you down so badly that you resort to racist terms, thus looking like such an unparalleled douche of enormous proportions? You hope they “Burn in hell” for a “Travesty”. You obviously need a lot of counseling by someone of professional psychiatry. Calling the Jamaican bobsled team a bunch of “apes” shows a level of ignorance that only a person with a lot of jealousy and resent for other peoples success could be harboring inside of your shallow and simple mind. You can only do one of two things. Either try to change or remove yourself from this earth, as there is no place for growth and progression in this world when people like yourself are present in the midst of intelligent human beings that posses a love for life and positivity that can not be matched by hatred and stupidity.
