This is simply amazing! According to a study all you have to do to be a healthy and vibrant senior citizen is follow these simple rules:
Then have a positive outlook, keep stress low, don’t smoke, but have a drink now and then. Oh, also make at least $30,000 a year and have no chronic health issues.
That’s the magic formula to thriving in old age, according to a study in the October issue of the Journal of Gerontology: Medical Sciences. Unfortunately, few seem to follow it.
Wow! They came up with that all on their own? Are you serious? How about that last part, “Have No Chronic Health Issues”. How about a little emphasis on that and maybe elaborate. They exclaim in the article that it IS a lot of common sense, but seriously, I think it should explain exactly how to NOT have chronic health issues. (Read it at MSN Health)
Some people are prone to chronic health issues because of genetics and disease risk passed down through generations. You have to educate people on what to and what NOT to do to insure that they do not have the common chronic health issues. Not only that but people have to have the will live healthy and to live longer. Some people don’t develop chronic health issues until later on in life and a lot of the time they are not preventable and it’s just something that comes with old age. But what about living healthy while you’re young?
It’s sad that some people have to be told the most simple of things in order for them to understand things like this. It’s also sad that some people are just so ignorant to the fact of educating themselves on proper diet and nutrition.
People will often see some food in a store and think about buying it because some one simply said “Those are good for you.” but how often to they ask Why is that good for you? How often to they take ten minutes to an hour to look in to why antioxidants are good or what foods contain what nutrients, what they do and/or what do they do combined with other foods?
The next time you hear someone say, “Ooh, those are supposed to be good for you…”, ask them why? See what they say and if you know and can give them a little information and pointers it may just birth a whole new world for them, where they start reading, listening, watching, and searching for more information on healthy foods and practices. If you do that then you’ve made a difference in someone’s life , and that feels good.
