The Latest Rumors In Sports

Whew … aren’t we all glad that Olympics are finally finished so that we can get back to our daily sports lives?

As a friend of mine so blatantly put it, “I’m so over the Olympics!”

And onward and upward we go. Here’s what’s rumored to be happening in the sports world:

NFL

Jay Feely was booted off the Kansas City Chiefs roster only a day after he signed a one-year contract. Makes you wonder what he did to get on their bad side so quickly?

Kurt Warner is in and Matt Leinart is out. My how quickly the mighty fall. Warner will be the starting quarterback in the Arizona Cardinal’s last preseason game, and when the actual season begins. Poor Matt. Must have been all those parties with Paris Hilton.

MLB

Since the Yankees are going to miss the playoffs this year, Hank Steinbrenner made a rare appearance in the Bronx last night and made the following statement: “There’s going to be a lot going on this off season.”
Just goes to show you that money can’t always buy you love … er, a World Series.

NBA

The Oklahoma City team finally settled on a team name: the Thunder. Really? With all the name possibilities out there, that’s what ya’ll came up with? Thunder? Really?

NHL

Looks as though Joe Sakic will be returning to the Colorado Avalanche after all. Sakic spent three months hemming and hawing about retiring but the 39-year-old ultimately did an about face and decided to give it another go. I swear, this non-retiring stuff is an epidemic!
